Big Decisions program evaluation
The Big Decisions sex ed program, which AISD uses for its middle and high schoolers, is marketed as "abstinence plus," which means it is supposed to stress abstinence but also include instruction on the use of contraceptives. This is often seen as a harmless step up from an "abstinence only" curriculum. The program, however, has all the hallmarks of comprehensive sexuality education (where children are taught how to reduce their risk -- with the assumption that they'll be having sex no matter what -- rather than how to avoid it)
The following file contains an evaluation of the program based on the 15 harmful elements of CSE (comprehensive sexuality education)
